🎉 Melodi Grand Prix 2026 is heading to Lilleham

🎉 Melodi Grand Prix 2026 is heading to Lillehammer!

For the first time ever, MGP will be held in Lillehammer, with the grand final taking place in Håkons Hall on Saturday, 28 February. The arena seats 11,500 and even hosted Junior Eurovision back in 2004.

MGP project manager Mads Tørklep says Lillehammer is set for an amazing MGP experience and encourages fans to help create a true festival atmosphere together with the city. 🎶

NRK’s new music strategy means MGP will grow across all platforms in 2026, aiming for more visibility and stronger engagement.

Next year’s MGP final will feature 10 songs, 9 have already been chosen by NRK, and 8 artists will battle for the last spot through new radio duels, and the audience decides who joins the final lineup. 🎧🔥

The first radio duel airs Tuesday, 20 January, with daily duels all week. The final finalist is revealed Monday, 26 January.

The first nine finalists will be announced at a press event on Monday, 19 January. All songs drop on Monday, 26 January, when the final contestant is also revealed. 🎶✨

The hosts of Melodi Grand Prix will be announced in mid-December.

🎟️ Ordinary ticket sales open Monday, 24 November.
Fan tickets are available today for members of OGAE Norway.

🚨 MGP 2026 submissions are officially open!
Norway is confirmed for Eurovision 2026, and NRK is already looking for the next big act.

Tarjei Strøm, the new music director for Melodi Grand Prix, wants strong, original songs that bring energy, emotion, and a unique voice. His goal? A high-quality lineup and a shot at winning Eurovision.

All entries must be under 3 minutes, with at least one Norwegian songwriter. Artists must be 16 or older by January 1, 2026. You can submit up to three songs.

Mads Tørklep is delighted;
"We noticed on Thursday that the audience goes wild when we start our spectacular show. That's probably why the producers want us to start the whole thing. It's a pretty good position for us, especially considering that people can vote from the beginning of the show these days.

We also get a lot of exposure on the recaps at the end. I have a really good feeling about it."
